for our readers who may be too lazy to read the front page, as read by our associate, Mr. MetalGod Hammerschmidt |
Hello. We are very glad to have you here on texarrakis.com. TO MAKE A SHORT STORY SHORTER, we are in posession of a 5.152 acre piece of land in far west Texas, in the Trans-Pecos region of the Chihuahuan desert, nestled in what is known as Lobo Valley. The land is 4 miles from the nearest ghost town, 18 miles from the nearest real town, 40 miles from the nearest spaceport, and 140 miles from the nearest city. twelve of us have been to this land in an epic 17 day road trip, zipping down from Boston to far west Texas. It took us a couple days to even find the land. We camped on a nearby dried out lakebed. And we all want to go back. And a few of us want to migrate back, for at least a year. |
|---|
WE ARE GOING TO MOVE TO THIS LAND IN MARCH, 2010.
who are we? why are we doing this? what are we going to do down in the middle of nowhere? these are all fairly common questions. if you want an answer to the first two questions, you'll have to explore this website to try to extract that data. don't worry, we'll make it easy for you.
in interest of keeping your attention here for a moment, i'll attempt to briefly answer the third question from the last paragraph (bolded in case you didn't read that paragraph for some reason).
the short answer, is to do whatever we want to on a little bizarre homestead.
an elaboration of that, would be; to pursue our creative interests and abilities as far as we can take them, without the daily requirements and obligations that come with living in a large metropolitan area. examples of this include capturing rainwater, growing crops, painting paintings, shooting videos or movies, and attempts at writing novels. building strructures. we need and crave, ADVENTURE. this will all involve a lot of hard work, and a lot of manual labor, which we believe to be good for the soul.
building a forty foot tall ziggurat out of scaffolding, with four lightning rods, each lightning rod slathered with fireworks.
THIS IS WHERE YOU COME IN. you will be our audience. this is we will keep blogs, post videos, post photographs, post guides on how to do what we're doing. you can keep track of us, you can live on the edge of civilization, vicariously through us. we will sell you interesting things; tshirts, stickers, glass bottles of authentic T E X A R R A K I S dust. T E X A R R A K I S beans, T E X A R R A K I S spices.
and you can help fund us while we're down there as well, either materially or monetarily. your donations will not be wasted, we will show you exactly where your money has gone. we'll post a budget, with run downs of expected costs. we have the bare minimum means to do this
a forty foot tall ziggurat out of scaffolding, with four lightning rods, each lightning rod slathered with fireworks is a bit of a luxury item i'm afraid, and this is why we'll need your monetary support to create such lofty goals.
we're not playing games here, this is serious. but enjoy the rest of the page, enjoy the photos, the videos, the blogs, and if you want to ensure that we keep producing content, help to sponsor us!
FOR THE VERY WEDGE!
HELP US REACH OUR GOAL OF RAISING
FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS
Please, help us reach our goal! Every penny we receive will be well used, for our basic needs such as giant bags of rice, to purchasing additional wind/solar generators, to helping us build our rain catchment system. We'll create art, we'll explore and document our surrounding areas. We'll upload photos, take video, write articles. Why should you donate? Why did you click the donate link? You want to see exactly, what it is, we will do down there. You might just want to see us get our asses kicked by the desert. Or maybe you want to see us build a wind powered sand boat.
