Google Independence Day doodle conspicuously missing the American flag

Jul

I was staring at Google's Fourth of July doodle today. Staring, right into it. Deep into it. Something was off.

What's missing? The American flag.

Now, anyone who knows me personally probably knows I'm not a particularly patriotic person. I love 'Murica and all that, but you know I also love every other part of the planet as well. This is my home, and I like it. But I only recognize its borders and government as meaningless fictions, an illusion of stability that is enforced upon us with television and guns. But that's neither here nor there. I'm just telling you this to make a point clear -- I am not particularly upset that the symbol of the US government is absent from a Google doodle, which celebrates the country I happened to be born in, in a tasteful, cultural way.

the gene machine iii at a rest area in arizona somewhere, after waking up from a good nights sleep on the sidewalk

I remember in the late 1990s and early 2000s, I drove around a late (actually two of them) model Plymouth Voyager minivan, which me and my friends had turned into an art car by means of spray paint and other home depot bought supplies. I called it, THE GENE MACHINE. I drove this thing all over the country even. But when I decided to do that, it was with the express thought in mind that probably, while venturing my rebellious anarchist teenager self out of the safe haven of Boston, Massachusetts, I might want to put an American flag on the car. It was so weird, I didn't want people to think I was some sort of an insane unamerican freak. I mean, I was, but I had never really left Massachusetts on my own, and was concerned with what (law enforcement) I would encounter.

somewhere near eugene, oregon

In the end, I couldn't put an American flag on the car. It was too awful an idea. But still, I didn't want anyone (law enforcement) to think I was some MA anti-American freak. I settled on a map of the United States, and an Interstate with an I-95 shield on it, to show my love of the road (which is a large piece of normal American culture). You can kind of make out the map in the above picture, but it was terribly painted, perhaps because of the amount of whiskey I was consuming that night. It worked very well, considering before hand in MA I was pulled over virtually every time I went for a drive. Driving with Massachusetts license plates in a car that might as well say "PULL ME OVER" across country only resulted in me being pulled over THREE times.

So, when I noticed Google's missing American flag, it got me wondering about it. Something about this was familiar.

Is Google exhibiting the same behavior I did as a paranoid 19 year old anarchist about to drive across country in a whacked out, hallucinogen inspired art car?

I don't know, I don't know. On the other side of the spectrum, these guys are a little pissed.

Why are the military, the State Department, and Boeing so interested in a blog post about me moving?

2011

Every so often, I like to check out my Google Analytics for a long period of time, specifically to look at the service providers which people visited TEXARRAKIS through. There have been some frightening ones in the last few months, not quite enough to make me particularly paranoid, but enough to get my mind creating conspiracy theories.

There are always relatively amusing visits, particularly fun to look at are what worldwide governments and US government agencies are looking at the site. I've had hits from all sorts of weird/interesting service providers, usually stuff like this, which was between 4/24/2011 and 6/26/2011:

The Bermudan government actually spends a lot of time listening to the speeches of Dr Martin Luther King Jr. I really like to imagine people within the parliamentary representative democratic dependency government of Bermuda dreaming of a day when they might be freed from their British occupiers.

This page is basically a photo of Riker's facial expression right before he contacts the bridge to let them know he'll be getting off in the holodeck. I salute you, perverted US Patent and Trademark Office nerds (from one, to another :).

Glad to see the US federal judicial system educating themselves! The next visit is slightly more sinister:

Hmmmm...hmm. Interesting. That is an interesting article for the Department of Homeland Security to spend some time looking at. It is a little funny that the DHS would spend so much time on a blog post I wrote about law enforcement now putting tracking devices on cars without a warrant legally in some areas. Since they probably already know full well about that. Are they just gathering the general vibe on the internet about that court decision, seeing how much knowledge there even is about it, or just letting me know that they know that I know that they know that I know, or something.

But here is where it gets really weird. Weird enough that, I'm actually somewhat concerned. Take a look at these next visits, all to the same blog post -- a blog post I wrote in late April about moving back to far West Texas. Keep in mind, for this blog post was the first page all of these service providers landed on first, the referring source all shows up as direct traffic straight to that post.

2)
3)
4)
5)
6)

Alright. So, out of nowhere, I get a lot of very strange traffic from the federal government. The stuff before this, that's pretty normal. Most likely when I get random government visits, its probably just some random guy or girl surfing the internet, since I know full well that where ever there is an office, there are people that are from and enjoy the internet. Other times they are just creepy data-mining military servers, harvesting data for whatever Darpa's Information Awareness Office secretly changed its name to after they realized they were creeping everyone out.

you couldn't make this shit up

But this is uh, a little different; these are all agencies that seem to be very interested in what I am doing, and where I am moving. I have never, in my days of lightly stalking visitors through Google Analytics, seen anything quite like this at all. Let's take a closer look at these six visits:

  1. USAISC HEADQUARTERS: USAISC, short for U.S. Army Information Systems Command, part of NETCOM, in Fort Huachaca, Arizona. They have always visited TEXARRAKIS, since its conception. Their visits show up regularly, and google searchs for USAISC bring up a bunch of sites wondering who they are -- so much so that I have always thought they were data-mining the internet, perhaps even storing all of the internet in one large back up file, or something. But when they have visited me in the past, it was not like this. This time, they went straight and only to the blog post where I talk about moving, and viewed it four times, without visiting any other pages. Their webpage, which no longer exists ( http://www.hqisec.army.mil/default.htm ), used to have a warning on it; that they had the legal right to watch you intently. This is the only substantial bit of informaiton I was able to find on USAISC: http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/agency/army/isec.htm
  2. NAVY NETWORK INFORMATION CENTER: NNIC, another shady information technology military center, with a similarly creepy webpage which also no longer exists: http://nnic.navy.mil/ . A google search for this returns a series of UFO conspiracy pages, and some articles about NNIC crawling their websites right before a Wikileaks release regarding UFOS and aliens.
  3. DOD NETWORK INFORMATION CENTER: Similar to the NNIC.
  4. US STATE DEPARTMENT: This is where it gets really weird. Why, is the US State Department, along with a chorus of other government service providers, directly going to a blog post about me moving to the outskirts of civilization in far West Texas?
  5. US FOREST SERVICE: Why??
  6. AL DHAFRA AIR BASE: This is an off the books refueling station, according to the AP:
"Some bases are shrouded in secrecy, including Al Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates, which the Pentagon does not officially acknowledge. The Air Force reportedly uses the airfield to fly U2 spy plane missions and tanker aircraft for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan."
Who knows what goes on there.

So, that's a little weird, right? There's also the city of Nashville TN, which I think is unrelated, but has been watching TEXARRAKIS every time I post anything about my life, ever since the lovelies over at SA made a false report to the Nashville police that we were taking donations and staying at a nearby Hilton. That's a separate weirdness. But then there's this municipality:

Which is relatively unremarkable . . . except it is 100 miles north of Fort Huachuca (which houses USAISC headquarters). And then all these other, weird, Arizonan based companies:

1)
2)
3)
4)

All of these visits are from Arizona, relatively close to Fort Huachuca and USAISC, in Tucson which is pretty close.

  1. DIAMONDBACK POLICE SUPPLY: Except for two reviews which were probably written by employees, this "cop shop" has two 1-star reviews from yelp, both describing a crappy store with a racist atmosphere. What are THEY doing, reading about my move?
  2. INTERNATIONAL PAPER: This was Weyerhauser, a company with a long history of military contracts recently bought by International Paper.
  3. THE BOEING COMPANY: Lots of offices and ties to Fort Huachuca from neighboring Tucson, AZ -- Boeing's connections with the military are clear.
  4. ROCKWELL INTERNATIONAL CORPORATION: Also with offices close to Fort Huachuca in Tucson, AZ, where the visits originated from. This company designed and built the space shuttle and many satellites.

That is a strange assortment, and they are all focused around Fort Huachuca. Which is really, really, really weird. With Boeing and Rockwell involved, I can't help but think of the mystery surrounding Blue Origin, Jeff Bezos' (the CEO of Amazon.com) spaceport. Including military restricted zones, black flights, and strange happenings at the Blue Origin site, as told by a recreation pilot who went to take a look at the area after noticing a lot of air traffic in the vicinity. It starts with curiosity and ends with

I asked him to confirm that this is a military operation. He said "it is a military operation" that would continue until around the end of the month. He never accused me of any illegal activity and he was very courteous. He also did not ask me to not go out there again or anything like that. It was a little intimidating though.

Read more and look at aerial photos here, at Larry Pardue's detailed account of the Mystery at Salt Flat

Anyway, I haven't fully poured over all the data or cross referenced anything yet, but I will look into this as deeply as I can. This could all just be coincidence pretty easily, but I find it strange that a blog post that didn't really receive much traffic, should be visited by all of these organizations. Are they covering up some weird military operations? Or maybe all of these Arizona and Texas wildfires were set by the federal government, which would explain why the US Forest Service and all these organizations were interested in my whereabouts. But why would they even give a shit?

I don't know. This is just weird. I'll have to concoct some wild, conspiracy theory soon, and get back to you. If you have a nice conspiracy theory about all this, you should probably let me know.

Joe the Sheriff; not your average Joe the Plumber

Sep

2010

First of all, I would like to wish all of you readers out there a pleasant FYF! To those of you on the east coast, have fun with Earl!

Recently I've been watching a certain Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Arizona pop up on the news, and even moreso in the last day or so. Who the hell is Sheriff Joe Arpaio? Why is the US Department of Justice suing him? This is clearly what I get for not watching television or listening to the radio.

Who knows, but after researching it, I can't help but be reminded of Joe the Plumber. News articles and blog posts seem to be making him out to be your average Joe the Plumber type, except in this incarnation he is a sheriff. But he's not. Joe the Sheriff is being sued, because of an investigation into racial discrimination on his and his department's part. The USDOJ wants his documents, that they think will prove that he used racial profiling in what are believed to be in descriptions of some sort of illegal immigrant sweep through his corner of Arizona.

Well, so I looked around the internet a bit, I wanted to find out something about him that comes from BEFORE all this recent stuff about him. Basically, I suspected him of being some sort of nazi fascist.

Yup, he's a nazi fascist. What I found out was extraordinarily easy to find and well known to seasoned Joe the Sheriff haters. And also completely missing from any news story I read on this matter. QUITE SIMPLY, here is some evidence submitted to you that Joe the Sheriff is, in fact, a Nazi.

In a protest against his extreme anti-immigration policies, he shows up to support the counter protestors, who know him. They are all neo-nazis. Skip to 4:48:

And here is a photo of Sheriff Joe Arpaio, and a neo-nazi:

sheriff joe arpaio and miscellaneous neo-nazi doofus

And of course, the counter protest was about supporting Arpaio, versus the huge numbers of people denouncing him for his heavy handed, racist tactics.

You can read more about the Nazi <-> Joe the Sheriff connection here.

Other accomplishments (besides being a neo-nazi apologist) of Joe the Sheriff are:

Yeah, alright. This doesn't include all of the improper spending, and what a terrible job he is doing as sheriff, even from a fascist perspective.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's office webpage is a Joe the Sheriff narcissism trip. But it's worth taking a look at, it's pretty amusing/horrifying. Make absolutely sure to check out the 8 Signs of Terrorism section. It's a winner in weird post 9/11 governmental dystopia.

I'm looking forward to watching how this turns out.
